We believe you should know exactly what you’re wearing.

All KARREK pieces that meet the legal hallmarking threshold are independently tested and hallmarked at either the Edinburgh or Sheffield Assay Office. This provides reassurance that the precious metal used in your piece meets the required standard.

In the UK, it is a legal requirement for precious metal items to be hallmarked when they are described as silver, palladium, gold or platinum, provided they meet the relevant weight threshold.

The current hallmarking thresholds are:

  • Silver: 7.78g and over

  • Palladium: 1g and over

  • Gold: 1g and over

  • Platinum: 0.5g and over

Pieces below these weights are not legally required to carry a hallmark, but we always make sure the materials used are accurately described.

It’s one more way we can give you confidence in the piece you’re choosing — made carefully, using quality materials, and designed to be treasured for years to come.
